April 20
I hope that you all are doing well and enjoying the spring weather. RMF is blooming at the seams. We recently acquired 100 day-old Rhode Island Reds and 62 Delawares to go along with the 45 mature hens, 50 Dominiques, and 90 mixed breeds. The incubator here is due to hatch in 2 weeks. All the nannys are bulging and waddling.
We regretfully lost one nanny to a pack of wild dogs this past week but the rest of the herd was spared, with injuries from serious to minor on 4 more expectant nannys. The dogs are gone and the nannys are healing. Thankfully the new sheep were in in the barn waiting on new fence wire so they were spared. The sows are swollen and due in 2 weeks. I will update as the new ones arrive. The West Jefferson Farmers Market opens this Saturday, the 22nd, and I will be there with farm fresh eggs and fresh spring onions. I also have squash, and lettuce plants in 2 cup containers. I am offering some of last falls potatoes in 5 pound bags. Hope to see you all at the market. Eat well, stay healthy.
