december newletter
Howdy Folks,
It is well into December, and the gardens are sleeping under frosty cover. The remaining seeds are dormant, in preparation for the spring rush. However, the livestock is well and kicking... literally. The horses are feeling good in the cool morning air and frolicking in the fields together.
The chickens are liking the protection of the hen house but are being stingy with eggs, except the arcana’s who like to lay only on nights below freezing. One relentless duck is still clinging to a nest with hopes of hatching 18 eggs that I fear have become too cold. She is a resilient Muscovy.
The Nannys are still hoping that I find them a husband before December is over. I have not had any success finding a 100% Nubian buck . So, if any of you know of the whereabouts of one, I would be glad to hear from you. He can be a buck for sale or rent.
I have been attending a lot of classes and workshops in hopes of finding the golden key to successful farming! There is not one, but I sure have gotten some good tips that I will be passing along to y'all in each newsletter. I'll be adding some of my favorite recipes for the season at hand, which will include the vegetables or fruits I will be selling at the market. In risk of stretching my computer skills, I will offer a link to a site that I may frequent for farming advice and /or for canning tips.
I hope you all stay warm and well this winter!!!!
Eat well, stay healthy.
