April Newsletter
Howdy Folks,
Hope that April is a good one. Just a note from Rose Mountain Farm to update you all on the goings on. We have completed the milk room and it is in use.
The pasture poultry pens are done and now house 100 organic cornish X rocks that are growing vigorously. The hens decided to compete for blue ribbons in march and are laying like crazy. The raspberries are planted and growing well. The orchard is started - apple trees are done and pear trees are to follow, and hazelnuts after the pears.
Construction of the store is still going on and we plan to be open soon. Store hours will be 7am to 7pm on wed, thur, and friday. And we will still offer produce at the Ashe County Farmers Market in West Jefferson on Saturdays.
The fields will be plowed in April and some root crops started such as beets, potatoes, carrots, etc. In the middle of May we will start planting the above ground crops. We'll have some early tomatoes (5 varieties) and squash ( 9 varieties). If any of you would like to request a specific vegetable, please let us know soon and I will do my best to find the organic seed and raise that, too. The herbs are doing well and will be ready by May.
Stay healthy and love Mother Earth, she does feed you.
Regards!
