June Newsletter

Howdy folks!

All is well here on the farm. The planting was a success this week, with the rain coming just in time to wet the soil for the growing tomatoes. The squash are zucchini green and looking stout. The tater tops are thick and luscious (I wonder if you can eat them) ( is that where tater tots come from? haha).

The critters are well and all is turning green, finally. The milk sales have 'hit the roof' and the yogurt is going like ice in August. We are awaiting the arrival of the kiefer starter, so look for that to be added to the list of available products, in lieu of butter. We started the shiitake logs this week, and are going to prepare 10-15 per week to stagger the harvest time this fall.

The sales at the market were awesome and I thank every one who bought the eggs and herbs. I sold out at 11:30! I will have more basil, chives, and summer savory this Saturday, and of course, the delightful brown eggs with orange yolks.

We'll have new pictures up on the picture gallery at http://www.rosemountainfarm.com/pics.htm this week, so check out our progress!

Eat well, stay well.
